Red Leg partridge is the most common game bird in the UK – unlike it’s cousin the Grey Leg, which is much rarer and therefore a lot more expensive.

Partridge has a mild flavour which makes it ideal if you’re trying Game for the first time.

Red Leg partridge has very lean meat, and is great for roasting and serving one per person.

Our Red Legs are shot on estates in Yorkshire, and are plucked, gutted, and tied - ready to be cooked.

One oven-ready bird supplied.

Each bird weighs a minimum of 250g and will serve one adult.

Supplied frozen

Partridges are available fresh from 1st September to 31st January, and frozen at other times of year.

Put into a freezer as soon as possible after delivery, and consume within 12 months or before best before date on packaging.

Defrost in a fridge for 24 hours before cooking, and use within 48 hours.

Once defrosted do not refreeze.

Rub the skin of the partridge with butter, and then wrap around some slices of prosciutto ham or streaky bacon, to prevent the bird drying out during cooking.

Transfer into an oven pre-heated to 220°C (Gas Mark 7) for 30 minutes.

Check the juices run clear, and leave to rest for 10 minutes before serving.
