The long Easter weekend is the perfect excuse to get the whole family together for a big meal with all the trimmings, and if that’s your plan then we have a couple of really good options for you.
Our beef foreribs are the perfect centrepiece, and a really impressive cut of beef to serve for a special occasion.
Taken from British beef, we take a rib of beef and age it for at least 14 days, and then supply it to you with the rib bones left in. We leave the bones in for presentation but also for taste; cooking on the bone helps the meat to stay moist and also adds flavour.
We only remove the chine bone, which is the bone that connects the rib bones. This means the beef will be easy to carve if you just cut in between the ribs.
Our largest forerib weighs around 5kg and has 5 rib bones, and will serve 12 people comfortably. However, we also have smaller-sized joints with 3 or 2 bones if you’re cooking for a smaller crowd.
We love beef but for a great-value roast that’s packed with flavour it’s hard to beat gammon.
Our boneless joints of gammon are available in a choice of two sizes; 1kg to serve 6, or 1.5kg to serve 8.
Our gammon is made with pork from free-range British pigs, which is cured to give it a delicious savoury saltiness.
There’s no need to soak it before cooking, although you can do if you don’t want your gammon too salty. Just cover it in cold water overnight then leave to dry before cooking as normal.
And once you’ve got the food planned you need to sort out the drinks! Wine is a given with dinner, but to really impress your guests how about serving them cocktails? Over at thebar.com they’ve put together some suggestions for Easter-friendly cocktails, from the classic mojito to a very seasonal Easter Flip - to view their guide just click here.
Whichever meat you decide on, please make sure we have your order before midnight on Tuesday 11th April, as our last deliveries before Easter are being made on Thursday 13th April.

read full articleThere’s much more to steak than fillet, sirloin and ribeye – and although we love the ‘prime’ cuts of beef, we’d like to introduce you to something a bit different.
We’ve recently extended our beef range, and we now have some more unusual cuts of beef available to order online.
Some of the less well-known cuts of beef are also the most delicious, but because people don’t know about them, demand isn’t as high and therefore the prices are lower. It’s a win-win situation!
Bavette is a perfect example of this.
Also known as Skirt steak in American cooking, bavette is pronounced ‘ba-vet’, and it’s taken from the belly and actually technically more like offal than steak.
Beef bavette is so full of flavour and easy to cook that it’s really a shame it isn’t more popular in the UK. It can be tough if over-cooked so we recommend cooking quickly and serving medium-rare.
To cook, simply place in a hot pan for 2-3 minutes each side, leave to rest for 20 minutes, then slice before serving.
Onglet is our other new steak that’s now available online.
Onglet is pronounced ‘on-glay’ and is also sometimes known as Hanger steak.
If you’ve ever had Steak Frites in France the chances are you have already tried onglet, as it’s much more widely used in France than in Britain.
Onglet is from just below the diaphragm, and the meat has a very distinctive grain and intense, rich taste that’s very moreish.
As with bavette, onglet should be cooked very quickly and served medium-rare. Fry in a hot pan for 2-3 minutes each side, with a long resting period afterwards to make sure the meat will be moist and tender.
We always have bavette and onglet in stock, so now is the time to try something different!
Order online and we can deliver to your door, right across mainland UK, in just a couple of days.

Our Mother’s Day Meat Box is available with a choice of meats to suit your taste and pocket.
The Beef and Red Wine Box is perfect if your Mum loves steak, because it includes a 2kg piece of our very popular Black Angus Beef Ribeye.
Either cut it down into individual steaks as thick as you like, or roast whole for a very indulgent roast beef.
Black Angus is the best quality beef we sell, and it’s taken from Australian Angus cattle, who are completely free range and 100% Angus.
Each 2kg joint will provide 10 average-sized 7oz steaks, or can be roasted whole and will feed 8-10 people.
Also included is a full size bottle of Australian Shiraz, made by Little Rascal. This is a nicely-spiced wine that matches perfectly with the Angus Ribeye.
Our other box choice is the Chicken and White Wine Box.
If you’re cooking for fewer people, or if your Mum prefers white meat, this is the box for you.
It contains one of our free-range corn-fed chickens, and a bottle of Little Rascal Australian Chardonnay.
The chicken weighs around 1.5kg and is ideal for feeding 4-5 people, and because it’s free-range you can be happy you’re eating the best quality available.
The Chardonnay is dry and fruity, and an excellent match to roast chicken.
Whichever box you choose, please remember to place your order by Wednesday 22nd March, so we can deliver to you in time for Mother’s Day – which is SUNDAY 26th MARCH! Don’t forget!
Of course if you’d rather we delivered direct to the special lady herself we can do that, just enter her address in the delivery address section at Checkout.

Here at Keevils we always strive to give the best customer experience possible, and we were really happy when a few weeks ago we were awarded the Gold Trusted Service award from Feefo, which is based on customer reviews.
We’re therefore over the moon to let you know we have now been nominated for the Best Independent Online Retailer award by Great British Food magazine.
The Great British Food awards are now in their 4th year, and are run by the foodie magazine Great British Food. The magazine writers choose their 10 favourite nominees in a series of categories, and then the shortlist is put to the Great British public for their deciding votes.
As the name suggests, the awards are a celebration of the best of British food, and the 20 categories include Best British Food Brand, Best British Restaurant and Best Food Writer.
We enjoyed looking through the nominees because as well as the excitement of seeing our own name on there, the list of nominees is a great recommendation for some food brands we hadn’t heard of before.
The voting is now open, and we need your help!
We would really appreciate it if you could head on over to the online voting form to cast your votes.
You can find the voting form by clicking here
As a little treat for having your say, everyone who votes is automatically entered into a draw to win one of 36 prizes, with a total value of £7000.
There are loads of different prizes on offer, all with a foodie theme, from kitchen equipment and hampers to a stay at a boutique hotel.
Voting closes on the 17th July, and the winners will be announced in the October issue of Great British Food magazine.
This means we have a painfully long wait to find out if we’ve won! But we really hope you’ll get involved, and even if we don’t win, we hope one of our customers ends up bagging one of the prizes on offer.

read full articleThis week it’s the annual event we’re sure you’ve all been counting down to – British Pie Week!
Pie week was originally started by the ready-made pastry company Jus-Rol back in 2007 as a marketing ploy. But because we all love pie so much it’s caught on and is now a popular event for the foodie world. It’s basically just a great excuse to eat pie and share our favourite pie recipes!
Pie is a true Great British comfort food, and this time of year is perfect to celebrate it. While it’s chilly and wet outside there’s nothing quite like a hot pie and piles of mash to warm you up at the end of the day.
It’s been ten years since the first pie week and now everyone from national newspapers to top restaurants are getting in on the fun.
Jus-Rol have carried out a survey and found that 75% of people eat pie at least once a month, so if you’re one of the 25% now is the time to join the rest of us!
If you’re planning on cooking a pie this week may we suggest this recipe by Delia Smith for a cracking Steak and Kidney pie.
Or if you’re looking for a vegetarian option – we can’t help you with that, sorry.
Our pies are made for us in the Kent countryside by Kentish Mayde.
They use top quality ingredients, locally sourced where possible, and the pies are generously filled. There’s nothing worse than a half filled pie and these are far from it – there’s filling right up to the crust, so there’s no awkward empty space when you cut into it.
Our pies come in a variety of fillings – try the classic Steak and Kidney, or something a bit more unusual with Steak and Stilton.
There are two sizes to choose from, either the Family size which will feed 4, or Medium pies which will serve 1 or 2, depending on your appetite!
This week in honour of British Pie Week we’re taking 20% off the price of our pies, so the larger Family pies are now £6.16, and the smaller Medium version is £2.80.
This offer is only running until this Sunday the 12th March though, so don’t miss out!

read full articleBeing on Smithfield Market means we get our pick every day of the finest meats from across the UK, which are brought to Smithfield to be sold.
We also work closely with a number of our favourite suppliers to ensure we have a constant supply of produce from home and abroad.
We trade in meat from around the world, buying and selling in vast numbers, be it Spanish pork, Icelandic lamb, or our famous Australian Black Angus beef.
We’ve been buying beef from South America for some time, most often from Argentina and Brazil who are both famous for their beef industries.
But one of our most recent discoveries is Chilean Beef, and we’re really happy to be able to share it with you.
Chile has one of the most diverse climates of any country in the world, as it stretches nearly 3000 miles from the Atacama Desert in the North, to Cape Horn in the South which is just 500 miles from Antarctica.
Our cattle are from the area around the city of Punta Arenas, which is in the beautiful region of Patagonia.
They are bred and reared in the foothills of the Andes Mountains in a high-altitude environment made up of mountains, fjords, and forests.
Although only 1000 miles from Antarctica, the area has a similar climate and landscape to the Alps, and the cattle are free-ranging and left to graze on the grasses and wild flowers that are native to the region.
Our Chilean beef herd is Angus/Hereford cross. These two traditional British breeds are very well suited to the environment, and the crossing of the breeds means the resulting cattle have the best characteristics of each.
After slaughter the beef is hung and dry-aged, then portioned and left to wet-age further before being frozen for the long journey by sea to the UK which takes around 6 weeks.
In our Chilean beef range we currently have Sirloin joints weighing around 2 to 2.5kg each, and T-Bone steaks weighing 10oz each, which come in packs of 3.
We are really impressed with the quality of the meat and are very pleased to be able to bring it to you.

Make it a full 3 courses and don’t forget the candles for extra brownie points!
The best place to start your planning is of course with the best quality ingredients.
We have a couple of offers on Valentine’s-friendly meats that could work well for your dinner à deux.
Fillet steak is a classic Valentine’s Day meal choice, and it fits the bill perfectly as each steak is the ideal portion size for one person, and as fillet is a fairly expensive cut your love will be suitably impressed!
Fillet is very lean and we recommend cooking it medium-rare. If you cook fillet well done it can become dry and chewy.
Our fillet steaks are taken from free-range British cattle, and are 6oz each. Usually £18.50 for a pack of 2 they are now £14.50 – a saving of 21%.
Duck breast is another really good choice for Valentine’s.
Again, the perfect size to serve one breast per person, duck is great because it’s not something you tend to eat often which makes it more of a treat.
Our duck breasts are taken from French Barbary ducks, and weigh 6oz each.
Usually £7.50 for a pack of 2, they're now £5 – a saving of 33%.
Once you’ve decided what to cook you’ll also need to think of what to drink.
We sell arrange of wines to go with your meat, but if you’re like us you’ll want bubbles for Valentine’s Day!
We have a couple of sparkling wines that we source from the Chapel Down winery in Kent.
If you think English wines are low quality – think again. Chapel Down are very respected and used by a number of high-profile celebrity chefs including Jamie Oliver and Gordon Ramsay.
Chapel Down Vintage Reserve Brut is an English alternative to prosecco or champagne, and has won numerous international wine awards.
The Chapel Down Rosé Brut is a pink sparkling wine, dry, rich and fruity.
Our Chapel Down sparkling wines are also on offer, with up to 18% off, so make the ideal accompaniment to your Valentine’s meal.
Whatever you end up cooking, we hope your meal goes well and your love is swept of their feet!

read full articleOur large packs of chicken breasts are one of our best selling products, and it isn’t hard to see why. Each pack weighs 5kg and contains around 22 skinless and boneless chicken breasts.
Chicken is one of the most protein-rich meats and is naturally low in fat, so if you’re looking to eat healthily or following a paleo or high protein diet, our 5kg Chicken Breast packs are ideal.
These chicken breasts are larger than those you find in the supermarket, and weigh around 8oz (220g) each. That’s over 20% bigger than supermarket chicken breasts which are usually more like 6oz (170g) each.
With no added water or preservatives, this is 5kg of 100% chicken breast, and because it’s a large pack we can do it at a really good price, too.
The normal retail price of our large pack of chicken breasts is £36.95, but we have it at a reduced price of £22.50 – a saving of nearly 40%, and a price of just over £1 per breast.
Chicken breast is such a versatile meat that can be left fairly plain and poached for a simple, low fat dish, or dressed up with marinades or sauces to make a much more decadent meal. If you get through a lot of chicken, the large pack will save so much time and money.
Our chicken breasts are delivered fresh in a large vacuum-sealed pack. Once you receive it, it’s really easy to divide into smaller packs or sandwich bags, then freeze them to cook when you need them.
The chicken can be frozen for up to 3 months so you have plenty of time to use them.
If you’re looking to save some money but not prepared to compromise on quality, bulk buying chicken is a great idea, and such an easy way to economise.
But don't worry if you’re running out of ideas on what to do with all that chicken, there's a really good selection of recipes for chicken breast here on the Good Food website.
Don’t forget, you can save 10% on your first order by quoting discount code NCRKK at checkout.

read full articleWe’re a few weeks in to the new year, and if one of your resolutions was to eat more healthily this year – how’s that going so far?
A lot of diet or healthy-eating recipes promote vegetarian or even veganism, but meat is an important part of a healthy balanced diet, and even if you cut down on certain types, there’s no need to cut it out completely.
Meat provides B vitamins, iron and zinc, and also helps to stabilise blood sugar levels. Meat contains amino acids and proteins which help with muscle repair and gain – and this is essential if you're training or just enjoy going to the gym.
In general, white meat is lower in fat than red meat, and chicken is a great option if you’re looking to eat more healthy types of meat.
We stock very large 5kg packs of chicken breasts, which contain around 22 skinless and boneless chicken fillets. We like to buy a pack and then divide the chicken into freezer bags, so we can use them as we need them, and they last for up to 3 months in the freezer.
If you just have to have steak, try to avoid ribeye if you’re following a low fat diet. Ribeye has tiny veins of fat running through the meat. This is where all the flavour comes from, but it also adds on the calories.
Fillet and rump steak are much leaner and lower in fat. Sirloin also is very lean, and the layer of fat that runs along the side of a sirloin steak can be easily cut away to make it healthier.
Goat meat is quite unusual but is lower in fat and cholesterol compared to other red meats. Although it is similar to lamb, the difference between goat and lamb meat is that goat is darker in colour, and has a deeper and less sweet flavour.
Processed meats such as bacon and sausages are the least healthy meats as they have higher levels of salt and saturated fats, and are definitely not a healthy option.
If you are trying to eat healthily, our Bodybuilder Box is a great option. Containing a great mix of lean meats including chicken breasts, rump steak, sirloin steak, and pork loin steaks, it’s full of tasty lean meats to kick-start your healthy eating plan! And because it’s from us you can be happy they are the best quality, freshest, grass-fed meats available.

read full articleOne of the highlights of our culinary calendar happens on the 25th January every year – it’s Burns Night.
Burns Night was originally a celebration of the life and work of the poet Robert Burns, and has now become almost a Scottish national day, and is more widely-celebrated than St Andrew’s Day.
Robert Burns was born in 1759 into a poor Ayrshire farming family, and he soon discovered a talent for poetry and song writing.
He wrote much of his work in his local Scottish dialect, and this was unusual but very popular, especially in his homeland.
Burns had quite a tangled love life and wrote extensively about his women, and also about his country; he was a fiercely proud Scot and his love for Scotland was clear.
He was very patriotic and believed in returning power to the people, and wrote in support of the American and French revolutions – and this won him favour amongst Scottish nationalists at home. He was also seen as a hero by the Communist regime in Russia where he even appeared on a series of Russian stamps.
Burns’ best known work is probably Auld Lang Syne, which is traditionally sung as the clock finishes chiming midnight on New Year’s Eve. He wrote it as a poem, and it was later set to the tune of an old Scottish folk song.
Burns Night is held every year on the 25th January, which was Robbie Burns’ birthday. The first was held by a group of his friends in 1801, 5 years after his death. They gathered and ate traditional Scottish food, read some of his poems, and raised a glass of whisky to their friend.
The popularity of Burns Night spread throughout Scotland as a way to celebrate one of their most famous sons in a typically Scottish way. This has become so popular now that even non-Scots like to get in on the fun.
During a traditional Burns Supper the cooked haggis will be brought in to the room of diners, whilst a piper plays the bagpipes. The haggis is set down in front of the host, who recites Burns’ poem ‘Address to a Haggis’.
The host cuts the haggis from end-to-end with a large knife, and then a whisky toast is raised to the haggis.
The haggis is served with ‘neeps and tatties’ (turnips and potatoes), and after the meal there are speeches about Burns and a selection of his works will be read.
At the end of night all guests join hands in a circle and sing Auld Lang Syne to end the evening.
If you're planning on hosting your own Burns Night, or you’d just like a smaller haggis to try yourself at home, take a look at our range of Macsween Haggis, which is traditionally made in Edinburgh and comes in a range of sizes from 450g to 3.6kg. The smaller sizes can be easily microwaved so it makes a very quick and easy meal.
