It’s that time of year again when many of us take the opportunity of the start of a new year to set some goals for the next 12 months.
Maybe it’s a small change or something more drastic, but if you’ve made plans for a fresh start – good luck and we hope you stick with it. You can do it!
One of the most popular New Year’s resolutions is to get healthier, and although we can’t force you to start jogging, we can help you to eat better.
There’s a big vegetarian trend at the moment (Veganuary, anyone?) and even if some diets are solely plant-based, there’s a lot of science on our side when we say that meat forms an important part of a healthy, balanced lifestyle.
Meat provides vitamins, minerals, and proteins that are difficult to replace with vegetables, and let’s face it: meat also tastes far better than salad.
If you’re planning on working out more and building muscle this is much easier to do if you’re consuming meat because of the high levels of protein it contains.
If you’re trying to lose weight or just eat less fat, you need to be eating lean meats, and chicken breast in particular is low in fat.
We sell very large 5kg packs of chicken breasts, which come very conveniently with the bone and skin removed.
Each pack contains around 22 large chicken breasts, and we’d advise you to invest in some freezer bags, pack the chicken breasts in bags, and freeze them for up to 3 months.
The normal selling price of the 5kg chicken breasts is £36.95, but they are currently on offer at £25.
That’s just £1.13 per breast.
We now stock a range of Buffalo meat, and it’s a great alternative to beef.
Buffalo is a red meat with a very similar flavour and texture to beef, however as it’s lower in saturated fat it is a healthier choice.
Our buffalo comes from Hampshire, and is completely free-range, pasture-fed, and organic.
As well as buffalo steaks we also supply mince, roasting joints, and a steak and kidney mixed pack.
If you eat a lot of meat or if you’re looking to fill your freezer, our Bodybuilder Box might be another option for you.
Containing 34 portions of lean meats, the Bodybuilder is packed with chicken breasts, rump steak, sirloin steak, and pork chops, and will keep you going for a while.
The products would cost £98.95 if bought separately, but the box costs £85 – a saving of 14%.
We have hundreds of other products online to choose from, and if you’d like any nutritional advice or if you aren’t sure which products are best for you, just get in touch.
Our staff are available 9am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, so just drop us an email at [email protected] or give us a call on 020 7236 1888, and they’ll be happy to pass on their meaty knowledge!

read full articleIf you’re feeling the pinch from Christmas but you still want to eat well, you might be interested to know our January Sale is now on.
We always have special offers running throughout the year but as a special post-Christmas treat we’ve got savings on some of our best-selling meats, as well as sauces to go with them.
Our Black Angus Beef is one of our most popular products, and we are now offering savings of up to 25% on various cuts, including Sirloin, Ribeye, Fillet and Rump.
Black Angus is a premium breed of cattle and ours is free-range, grass-fed, and gets consistently positive feedback from our customers.
Our corn-fed chicken breasts are another of our most popular products, and we’ve taken 20% off in the sale.
Supplied with the skin on and the wing bone left in, they are very versatile as they can be roasted as they are for a restaurant-standard of presentation, or you can easily remove the skin and bone to cook as a standard chicken fillet.
The corn-based diet of the chickens leaves their meat with a yellow tinge, and also makes it very moist and tender.
We don’t just have offers on meat – we also sell a range of sauces and they are featured in the sale, too.
Bolognese is one of our favourite mid-week meals but we don’t always have the time (or energy!) to make it from scratch.
Our friends at the Potts Partnership have the perfect solution, and their pre-made Bolognese Sauce is far superior to the jars in the local supermarket.
Made with wine and balsamic vinegar, the sauce has a really rich flavour and tastes incredible.
Potts also supply condiments, and their Mustard and Herb sauce is also in the sale.
A moreish blend of Dijon and wholegrain mustard, with thyme, parsley and sage, it goes perfectly with cold meats or roast chicken.
Take a look at the sale and see what you fancy, there are loads more products on offer, and with savings of up to 45% there’s sure to be something that catches your eye.

read full articleWe have all your favourite Christmas meats in stock now and available for delivery to your door right up until the 22nd December, but did you know we also have a range of stocking fillers, perfect for the foodie in your life?
If you’re struggling to come up with ideas for a Christmas present for someone who loves food, our friends at Lane’s BBQ and Eat 17 have something up their sleeves that may be just what you’re looking for.
Lane’s BBQ is based in Bethlehem, Georgia, and was set up by award-winning pitmaster Ryan Lane. Ryan had been making his own meat rubs and sauces to use in BBQ competitions, and because of the huge demand from friends and family, he decided to launch it as a business.
Today Lane’s BBQ produces a delicious and very diverse range which adds extra oomph to your food, whether you’re cooking on the BBQ or under the grill, using meat or veg.
Our favourite Lane’s product is the Signature Rub – it adds a depth of flavour with a very mild chilli heat. Even just a small sprinkling over your plain grilled pork chops or chicken breasts makes them really special and flavoursome.
We sell all of Lane’s BBQ rubs and sauces individually or in multi-packs, which offer a saving of at least 15%.
We recently started working with Eat 17, a restaurant in East London who began producing their own bacon jam to serve in their burgers. Customers loved it, so they started selling it on its own, and then added with new variants of Chilli Bacon Jam and Chorizo Jam.
Bacon Jam is a taste revelation and although it sounds like it might be a novelty product, it’s really a delicious combination of sweet onion jam and savoury, salty bacon.
We use bacon jam instead of chutney with bread and cheese, and we also love it spread on toast, with cheese melted on top. Stir it through cooked pasta, have it in a burger, or on the side with a fry-up; there are so many options for you to experiment with.
If none of those ideas have inspired you, we also do a Steak and Red Wine Box, which makes an ideal gift for a carnivore. It contains two each of our delicious grass-fed Sirloin, Rump, Ribeye and Fillet steaks, and a bottle of Malbec Reserve wine by Beefsteak Club.

But we couldn’t wait any longer, and so you get to enjoy our special Black Friday offers a whole day earlier than normal.
This year we have a real treat for you, because our rarely-discounted Black Angus beef is on offer, with up to 25% off.
Our Black Angus is top quality, grass-fed matured beef which has won numerous awards and continues to be our customers’ favourite beef.
Available as whole or half-sized Rumps, Ribeyes, Sirloin and Fillet, this is your chance to buy it for 25% less than usual.
Also on offer are our tasty T-Bone steaks cut from Chilean beef. Chile is one of the top beef-producing countries in the world, and the area we get ours from is in the foothills of the Andes and very much like an Alpine environment.
The T-Bones each weigh 280g (10oz) and come in a pack of 3. At just £13.50 for 3 steaks that’s just £4.50 per steak which we think you’ll agree is excellent value.
Our final product on offer is our very popular Back Bacon, in our already very well-prices Big Value packs. Big Value doesn’t mean low quality, and our large packs contain around 50 slices of flavoursome rashers that aren’t pumped full of water and won’t shrink down to nothing when cooked.
Choose from smoked, unsmoked, or sweetcure bacon, and save a third on all packs.
There’s no restriction on how many offers you can purchase, the only limit is how much fridge and freezer space you have!
Offers are valid from now until Midnight on Saturday 25th November, so place your order soon and don’t delay!

read full articleWe love to treat our customers and we’re currently running a competition on Facebook offering one of you a chance to win a box of Keevil’s meat.
It’s very easy to enter.
Just head on over to our Facebook page and tell us about the worst cooking disaster you’ve ever had, and we’ll pick our favourite next week!
The winner will get one of our Smithfield Meat Boxes delivered out to them, so hopefully your next attempt at cooking will be a bit more successful.
We launched the competition this morning and we’ve already had some brilliant and hilarious stories, including Ben Mulleady’s wife who made a batch of chocolate brownies made using gravy granules instead of cocoa powder, and Rachel Hilly Hill who was saved by the 3-Second rule and still went on to win her Brownie badge!
It seems a few of our customers have had drama with their Christmas dinners over the years, including Jackie Talbot who suffered our worst fear – a broken oven on Christmas Eve – and Sharon Cadwallader who tried to microwave the stuffing to save time and ended up with sage and onion rocks that even the dog wouldn’t eat!
We’d love to hear your stories of your cooking disasters and we’ll pick our favourite one next Wednesday the 25th October and arrange to send their meat box out the following week.
Good luck everyone!

read full articleWe are very proud and excited to introduce you to our new supplier of buffalo steaks: Broughton Water Buffalo.
Broughton Farm is just outside the pretty village of Stockbridge in Hampshire.
It’s in the Test Valley, a gorgeous area right in the middle of three officially designated Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (Cranbourne Chase, the North Wessex Downs, and the South Downs National Park).
With rolling hills, natural streams, and stunning views in every direction, this is the English countryside at its very finest.
Broughton Farm itself spreads over 500 acres, and farmer Nick has been breeding buffalo there for 14 years.
He uses only completely natural farming methods, meaning no fertilisers or chemicals are used at all on the farm, and the 250 buffalo that live there are left to roam their huge pastures amongst wild grasses and flowers that are left waist-height to mimic their natural habitat.
The buffalo are never given any additional feed than what grows on the farm, and they aren’t given hormones or antibiotics, either.
This very natural life is how farming was done 100s of years ago, and is really clear in the resulting meat that the buffalo produce.
To help drain the soil at Broughton, Nick has planted Lucerne, which is in the same plant family as clover. It has high levels of protein and fibre and the buffalo love to eat it, and its long roots can grow up to 15 metres in length, helping with soil drainage. It also means the plants still survive even during dry periods because the long roots can reach water far below the surface.
The buffalo are slaughtered very close to the farm, so their transport time is minimal, which is of course better for the animals as they have less stress to deal with.
The meat is left to hang and dry-age for 21 days which helps tenderise the meat and also allows the flavour to develop. After hanging, the meat is portioned and then frozen in vacuum-sealed packs.
Freezing the steaks is the best way to preserve them at their best, and when you receive them you can easily put them in the freezer if you don’t want to eat them straight away.
Buffalo itself is a very lean meat, similar to beef but with a more robust flavour – delicate but with a full, rich taste that beef just doesn’t have.
You can order Broughton buffalo steaks online individually, or buy a Buffalo Selection box containing one of each steak, and this way you also save 15% on the individual prices.
We know our buffalo is good – and we are really happy to let you know that our Buffalo Sirloin steaks have been shortlisted as Best British Meat in the 2017 Great British Food Awards.
The winners will be announced in September, and we are confident Broughton will come out on top!

Summer is probably our butchers’ favourite time of year and there are two reasons for that.
First of all, because they work overnight and finish around 9am, they’re free for the rest of the day to go home and make the most of the sunshine while the rest of us are sweating our way through the working day indoors. We’ve been seeing quite a few red faces turning up for work in the last few days!
But also, hot weather brings out the caveman in the best of us, and as our butchers have access to great quality meat which is perfect for cooking on the barbecue, they're all a dab hand with the barbie. They all come into work and exchange stories of what meats they’ve cooked the previous day, and new inventive ways of preparing them.
Recently we launched a new range of BBQ rubs and sauces which are handmade in Georgia by award-winning pitmaster Ryan Lane.
Lane’s products are 100% natural, with no nasty MSG or preservatives, and they're also gluten free.
Our butchers have tried them all, and tried different combinations of them, and it’s safe to say we are massive Lane’s BBQ fans.
As it’s a long bank holiday weekend this week, we’d love for you to try Lane’s products too, and we think you’ll love them as much as we do.
We’ve put together some packs of meat with Lane’s rubs and sauces – just cover the meat with the Lane’s and grill away to your hearts' content!
Pork Ribs & Lane’s Kinda Sweet Sauce – contains two full 1kg racks of pork ribs and a 400ml bottle of Lane’s delicious sweet and tangy barbecue sauce. Meaty ribs with a moreish glaze, this is a barbecue staple with a difference.
Price if bought separately £25.50 - NOW £17.85 - SAVE 30%
Ribeye Steak & Lane’s Signature Rub – contains two 8oz Ribeye steaks taken from free-range British cattle, plus a 130g jar of Lane’s most versatile rub. Lightly oil the steaks and generously season with rub, before barbecuing as you normally would. The rub adds a delicate savoury crust with a mild spice, and it helps keep the steak moist and succulent.
Price if bought separately £18.50 - NOW £14.80 - SAVE 20%
Chicken Wings & Lane’s One Legged Sauce – contains 5kg of British chicken wings, with 3 bones, so slightly larger than are sometimes available. One Legged sauce is a smoky, spicy variation of a Buffalo sauce, and it’s perfect with our meaty chicken wings. Douse the wings in sauce before cooking and you’re in for a treat!
Price if bought separately £17.50 - NOW £14.00 - SAVE 20%
Please order by Midnight on Wednesday 24th May to make sure we can deliver to you before the bank holiday weekend. Then all you need to do is sit back and hope for sunshine!

read full articleWe have been working with Feefo since last Summer, when they began collecting reviews from our customers.
The real benefit of this kind of independent feedback is that you can rely on it to be honest because it’s collected by a separate company and we have no way of influencing the results!
We send Feefo over information on of all our orders, including your name and details of the products you ordered and when they were delivered.
Then a few days after delivery Feefo get in touch with you direct and ask you to rate the service we provided, and the products themselves.
It’s easy to leave a rating out of 5 stars, and you can write a more detailed review if you want to.
Because it’s very quick to do and so helpful to other customers, we really hope you’ll leave a review of your Keevils order!
We’ve been delighted with the results of our customer feedback so far, and we’ve currently received 339 reviews on our service and scored 99% overall.
We strive to provide the best service, and we pride ourselves on the fact that the customer service we give really sets us apart from other butchers, so it’s wonderful to know that our customers agree.
To say thank you for taking the time to leave a review, each month we pick one Feefo reviewer as a winner of a £100 gift voucher to use on a Keevils order.
The winner is chosen at random from everyone who’s written a review in the month, and it doesn’t even matter if it was positive or negative feedback, everyone is eligible to win.
So please, leave your feedback when you receive the email from Feefo. Not only does it help us, it might mean you’ll get your next order free!

Here at Keevils we always strive to give the best customer experience possible, and we were really happy when a few weeks ago we were awarded the Gold Trusted Service award from Feefo, which is based on customer reviews.
We’re therefore over the moon to let you know we have now been nominated for the Best Independent Online Retailer award by Great British Food magazine.
The Great British Food awards are now in their 4th year, and are run by the foodie magazine Great British Food. The magazine writers choose their 10 favourite nominees in a series of categories, and then the shortlist is put to the Great British public for their deciding votes.
As the name suggests, the awards are a celebration of the best of British food, and the 20 categories include Best British Food Brand, Best British Restaurant and Best Food Writer.
We enjoyed looking through the nominees because as well as the excitement of seeing our own name on there, the list of nominees is a great recommendation for some food brands we hadn’t heard of before.
The voting is now open, and we need your help!
We would really appreciate it if you could head on over to the online voting form to cast your votes.
You can find the voting form by clicking here
As a little treat for having your say, everyone who votes is automatically entered into a draw to win one of 36 prizes, with a total value of £7000.
There are loads of different prizes on offer, all with a foodie theme, from kitchen equipment and hampers to a stay at a boutique hotel.
Voting closes on the 17th July, and the winners will be announced in the October issue of Great British Food magazine.
This means we have a painfully long wait to find out if we’ve won! But we really hope you’ll get involved, and even if we don’t win, we hope one of our customers ends up bagging one of the prizes on offer.

read full articleThis week it’s the annual event we’re sure you’ve all been counting down to – British Pie Week!
Pie week was originally started by the ready-made pastry company Jus-Rol back in 2007 as a marketing ploy. But because we all love pie so much it’s caught on and is now a popular event for the foodie world. It’s basically just a great excuse to eat pie and share our favourite pie recipes!
Pie is a true Great British comfort food, and this time of year is perfect to celebrate it. While it’s chilly and wet outside there’s nothing quite like a hot pie and piles of mash to warm you up at the end of the day.
It’s been ten years since the first pie week and now everyone from national newspapers to top restaurants are getting in on the fun.
Jus-Rol have carried out a survey and found that 75% of people eat pie at least once a month, so if you’re one of the 25% now is the time to join the rest of us!
If you’re planning on cooking a pie this week may we suggest this recipe by Delia Smith for a cracking Steak and Kidney pie.
Or if you’re looking for a vegetarian option – we can’t help you with that, sorry.
Our pies are made for us in the Kent countryside by Kentish Mayde.
They use top quality ingredients, locally sourced where possible, and the pies are generously filled. There’s nothing worse than a half filled pie and these are far from it – there’s filling right up to the crust, so there’s no awkward empty space when you cut into it.
Our pies come in a variety of fillings – try the classic Steak and Kidney, or something a bit more unusual with Steak and Stilton.
There are two sizes to choose from, either the Family size which will feed 4, or Medium pies which will serve 1 or 2, depending on your appetite!
This week in honour of British Pie Week we’re taking 20% off the price of our pies, so the larger Family pies are now £6.16, and the smaller Medium version is £2.80.
This offer is only running until this Sunday the 12th March though, so don’t miss out!

read full articleThe most romantic day of the year is just around the corner, and if you’re out to impress we have a bit of advice for you: cook!
There’s no better way to show the one you love how much you care about them than by taking the time to cook them a Valentine’s Day meal.
Make it a full 3 courses and don’t forget the candles for extra brownie points!
The best place to start your planning is of course with the best quality ingredients.
We have a couple of offers on Valentine’s-friendly meats that could work well for your dinner à deux.
Fillet steak is a classic Valentine’s Day meal choice, and it fits the bill perfectly as each steak is the ideal portion size for one person, and as fillet is a fairly expensive cut your love will be suitably impressed!
Fillet is very lean and we recommend cooking it medium-rare. If you cook fillet well done it can become dry and chewy.
Our fillet steaks are taken from free-range British cattle, and are 6oz each. Usually £18.50 for a pack of 2 they are now £14.50 – a saving of 21%.
Duck breast is another really good choice for Valentine’s.
Again, the perfect size to serve one breast per person, duck is great because it’s not something you tend to eat often which makes it more of a treat.
Our duck breasts are taken from French Barbary ducks, and weigh 6oz each.
Usually £7.50 for a pack of 2, they're now £5 – a saving of 33%.
Once you’ve decided what to cook you’ll also need to think of what to drink.
We sell arrange of wines to go with your meat, but if you’re like us you’ll want bubbles for Valentine’s Day!
We have a couple of sparkling wines that we source from the Chapel Down winery in Kent.
If you think English wines are low quality – think again. Chapel Down are very respected and used by a number of high-profile celebrity chefs including Jamie Oliver and Gordon Ramsay.
Chapel Down Vintage Reserve Brut is an English alternative to prosecco or champagne, and has won numerous international wine awards.
The Chapel Down Rosé Brut is a pink sparkling wine, dry, rich and fruity.
Our Chapel Down sparkling wines are also on offer, with up to 18% off, so make the ideal accompaniment to your Valentine’s meal.
Whatever you end up cooking, we hope your meal goes well and your love is swept of their feet!
If you need inspiration for romantic-themed desserts we’ve found a lovely selection here from the Great British Chefs.
For a final touch and a bit of fun you could add some heart-shaped confetti to the table, and we've found some to order online here from Party Pieces.
You need to place your order with us online before Midnight on Sunday 12th February, and we can deliver to you on the 14th.
